How To Pick The Perfect Curtains
Choose the Right Height - Regardless of your ceiling height, your curtains should always hit the floor (some rare exceptions like 2 story rooms may apply). Even a couple extra inches is great for the puddled look.
Natural light is great, so don’t block it! Choose a curtain rod that is 8”-12” wider than your windows. That way the curtain panels will not completely block all the light when open.
Always purchase wider curtains than necessary. This way when your curtains are open, they will ripple beautifully and when they are closed, there are no gaping holes.
Lighter fabrics like linen filter the light and make a space feel more casual. Heavier fabrics, like velvet, will make a room feel more private and formal while blocking more light. Keep in mind you can always have your curtains lined to keep the casual look while still providing the darkness needed.
